When life gives you lemons, put them on some chicken.
Have you ever woken up and realized that every side of the bed is the wrong side? Today happened to be one of those days. Now there is nothing I love more then waking up and eating something. I am constantly hungry. But alas, this morning I wake up and there are no hunger pangs to be had. This means one of a few things. I drank too much the night before, my stomach has been removed or I am in a foul mood. I was booze free all night, so that leaves the obvious choice. That my boyfriend finally found a way to sell my organs on the black market. Seriously, he has been looking at me rather shifty lately.
All joking aside, many of us have heard that the best start to a day is a good breakfast. Now I love that idea more then anyone. But what happens when your appetite just isn’t rooting for you? It’s almost as though your day is doomed. The “Titanic” day. The “Pompeii” sort of day. The ”next album from an American Idol winner” day. Doomed.
For those of us who enjoy eating and drinking and all things in between, these are sometimes the best sort of days. You get the ability to pick your emaciated body from the ground and start again. YOU determine your day. Altough it didn’t start out the way you wanted, it can be salvaged. Treat yourself to a cookie during lunch. Hell, treat yourself to a Bloody Mary. Maybe you decide that after work you are going to the grocery to make something special for dinner. You could take the extreme route and decide to eat healthy all day and then hit the gym. If you are one of these people, good for you, but I got nothing for you. The point is to give yourself a way to manage your day with an attainable goal. Deciding to make lasagne could end up motivating you to do your work dilligently so you can fool around for the rest of your day online at cooking sites.
Already I feel better about how grumpy my morning was. I know not everyone feels the way that I do, but why leave the cooking for someone else to do? I know that I never want to stop caring about the rest of my life outside of work and love. Food can be a labor of love and a way to connect not only with yourself, but the people you break bread with. Put it this way, if your day is REALLY bad, you can always have some wine while cooking that lasagne.
